Businesses are coming to terms with the new era of humankind, which involves digitalising themselves in order to survive the new world order.

At an event in London, Juniper Networks set out its observations on the presence and vision of the futthe as it warned industry rethink its business models or face demise.

Rami Rahim, CEO of Juniper, said: "Companies are recognising they must use digital innovation and new business models, if they do not do that they will perish."

In the enterprise sector, digital transformation can be divided into four areas of innovation. The CEO said that agility is essential for businesses to prosper and this can be done by using a hybrid cloud solution.

Innovation (through social media) and Productivity (via mobile devices) must be embraced.

Analytics will deliver Customer Experience by understanding and reading trends in real time and shaping the business on the fly.

Rahim said: "[We need a] Business model married with technology to deliver new levels of digital transformation."

Networks heart and soul of revolution

Being a network technology provider the CEO focused on network infrastructure, Rahim said this is "the heart and soul of the digital revolution".

He said that in the first place the network has to perform taking as an example "the cloud revolution [which] would not be possible without this [high levels of] performance".

Following performance is simplicity. Rahim said that networks must be dead simple to manage in order to ease the digital process and services delivery.

Fundamentally, security follows as networks must be secure and leading to a "marriage between network and security" to build the ultimate solution.

Concluding the fundamentals of network infrastructure, Rahim said this must also be open. He said: "Openness is core."
