Amazon is expected to unveil a cloud-based Internet of Things service during the AWS re:Invent conference this week.
The service could mimic the offerings that Microsoft and IBM have, and would target developers that are trying to build connected devices.
The move wouldn’t be that big of a surprise as companies look to capture a share of the growing IoT market.
Both IBM and Microsoft have developed broad platforms that aim to connect their cloud offerings to connected devices from both consumer and industrial applications.
AWS will need to knit together its numerous services so that they are more easily consumed by developers, this could come in the form of a suite.
The company has been a little sluggish in getting a dedicated set of IoT services out compared to its competitors, although services such as Kinesis data ingestion, S3 storage and EC2 compute offer services similar to that of an IoT suite.
The plans for an IoT service were in a memo seen by Fortune.
