Structured Query Language is one of the most widely-used programming languages in the tech world.
It’s is frequently used to communicate with databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
SQL was mentioned 331,470 times in job listings related to cloud computing.

2. Java
Java is a general-purpose computing programming language that is designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible.
First released by Sun Microsystems in 1995, it is integral to intranet applications and other e-business solutions.
It was designed to be similar to the C++ language, but to be simpler to use and enforces an object-oriented programming model.
The job skill was mentioned 249,056 times in job listings.
3. Microsoft SQL Server
Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system that was developed by Microsoft.
SQL Server is designed for the enterprise environment and runs on Transact-SQL, which is a set of programming extensions from Sybase and Microsoft. These are designed to add features to standard SQL such as; transaction control, exception and error handling and row processing.
It was mentioned 241,421 times as a required skill.
4. Linux
Mentioned 194,235 times in job listings, Linux, an open-source operating system modelled on UNIX. Simply put, it is the software on a computer that enables applications and the computer operator to access the devices on the computer to perform desired functions.
For every kernel release, over 1,000 developers from at least 100 companies contribute. In the past two years, over 3,200 developers from 200 companies have contributed to the kernel, which is just a small part of Linux.
The kernel is the most basic level of an operating system, it’s responsible for resource allocation, file management and security.
Given the levels of collaboration required, it is not surprising that this is one of the most in demand skills.
5. JavaScript
JavaScript is a high-level, dynamic, untyped, and interpreted programming language.
The popular programming language is used to make web pages interactive and can often be used to create polls and quizzes.
It is built into Firefox, Internet Explorer and others; it was first implemented by Netscape in 1995.
The job skill was mentioned 160,726.
