Cloud automation desire sees Red Hat buy Ansible

News: Acquisition will aid with the streamlining of OpenStack installations and upgrades.

Red Hat is boosting its open source automation capabilities with the acquisition of Ansible.

Ansible is a provider of IT automation solutions that are designed to help IT move towards a frictionless IT.

The acquisition will see Anisble added to Red Hat’s hybrid management portfolio in order to assist in deploying and managing applications. It was also aid in the speedy deliverance of services through DevOps initiatives.

Streamlining OpenStack installations and upgrades as well as accelerating container adoption have been named as additional benefits.

The up-streaming of Ansible has proven to be a popular open source automation project on GitHub, with around 1,200 contributors.

Following the acquisition, Red Hat’s open hybrid and IT management services will include CloudForms, which is a management platform that provides orchestration, governance and policy-based control across hybrid clouds, this enables self-service provisioning.

Red Hat Satellite will also be included; this offers a lifecycle management system with integrated infrastructure provisioning, software distribution and patch management.

Ansible and Ansible Tower are the on offer, it provides simplified multi-tier application deployment and IT automation across hybrid clouds.

Financial details have not been confirmed but it is expected to have no material impact to the company’s revenue for the third and fourth quarter ending 2016, the company said.
