BT boosts Cloud of Clouds with direct connection to Salesforce

News: Move comes as BT looks to provide predictable and reliable connection to cloud services.

By James Nunns

BT’s ‘Cloud of Clouds’ vision is being expanded through connections directly to Salesforce.

The agreement will see its corporate customers given access to Salesforce through BT Cloud Connect, which is the company’s connectivity to cloud services.

The idea of the ‘Cloud of Clouds’ is that customers can connect to applications and data they need, independently of where they are hosted.

BT says that its customers can benefit from highly predictable performance and reliability, which is supported by a global network of more than 200 data centres, including 48 that are owned and operated by BT itself.

The desire for secure and reliable connection options comes as more large corporations move their applications to the cloud.

Andrew Lawson, MD, Salesforce, UK & I, said: "Companies are transforming the way they connect with customers, partners and employees to thrive in today’s connected world. BT is accelerating this shift for its customers with the addition of Salesforce to its ‘Cloud of Clouds’ vision."

Salesforce has become the focus for a number of companies that are looking to collaborate with them and align themselves around the Salesforce platform, which is increasingly becoming an integral component of many digital transformation projects.

Consulting firms such as Accenture have been working hard to increase their numbers of skilled Salesforce workers while both Box and Salesforce have recently been collaborating with the cloud company.

BT has been steadily increasing the amount of services recently with unified communications and collaboration tools and services from several suppliers, this includes Cisco and Microsoft.

This latest agreement, between BT and Salesforce, will rolled out incrementally from February this year starting in the U.S and Europe with global deployment rolling out afterwards.
