Alibaba opens second US cloud data centre

News: Data centre services to go live on October 12.

AliCloud, Alibaba Group’s cloud computing arm, has launched its second data centre based in Silicon Valley, US, to answer growing demand for cloud services.

The company said customers will be able to apply for the centre’s services starting October 12.

AliCloud said the data centre has been designed to accommodate cloud and big data requirements of customers in the West Coast for the next three to five years.

The AliCloud portfolio at the new data centre will include more than ten cloud services that are designed to assist customers focused on accelerating innovation, including start-ups looking to reduce the cost of cloud-based service delivery and big data analytics, as well as established businesses

A number of new partnerships with cloud solution providers have also been securing, including companies like Mesosphere, Bankware Global, Appcara, Appnovation, Cloud Comrade and Panzura.

The company opened its first cloud data centre in the US back in March. Alibaba counts now with nine sites in the US, Singapore and China with plans for more facilities in the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
