These low budget laptops focus on the web browser and deliver low impact processors that are designed to last. With prices typically lower than the traditional laptop, they are a popular option for cloud savvy workers who require less built-in storage, but require good connectivity and a system that can handle multiple applications.
CBR has compiled a list of the 10 best chromebooks on the market today.
1. Pixel
The Pixel offers a Corei5 processor along with a USB 3.1 port and a high resolution screen. This product comes with 32GB or 64GB of flash storage, Intel HD Graphics 5500 and supports 4K video output over DisplayPort.
Despite Chromebooks typically offering a good but cheap alternative to a laptop, this one breaks the mould and does not come cheap.
The high build quality and high spec features means that this will set you back around a £1000.
2. Acer 15
Acer has some strong products in the Chromebook space and this device is both cheap and high quality.
Packing a 15.6 inch full HD screen and a fifth-generation Intel Core i5 processor, this machine is capable of dealing with most takes.

However, with it weighing 1 KG more than the Pixel at 2.19 KG, you probably won’t want to carry it around too much. Despite this weight, it will be worth it for the mere price of £249.
3. Dell 11
It isn’t the prettiest device but maybe you shouldn’t expect it to be for £216. What it doesn’t offer in aesthetics it makes up in ability, as it is targeted for the education market and even passes the US military standard testing for durability, pressure, shock and vibration.
So you can throw it about as much as you like and it should (hopefully) survive.
You’ll get a 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Celeron Processor and Intel HD graphics backed by 4GB RAM and 16GB SSD memory.
4. Lenovo N20p
Probably less durable than the Dell 11, the Lenovo has an 11.6 inch 300-degree hinge touchscreen and also 16GB of eMMC storage and up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM.
The 2.16 GHz Intel Celeron N2830 CPU makes sure that the N20p will be able to keep up with the pace when dealing with everyday tasks.
Although it is tailored more to video watching, the speaker quality has come in for criticism as sounding tinny, which will somewhat tarnish any video watching experiences.
The price of £179 makes it worthwhile as a cheap solution.
5. Toshiba 2
Costing around £205, this comes with a full 1080p screen with Skullcandy speakers which makes it perfect for watching films and streaming content from Netflix, YouTube and others.
Coming with a 13.3 inch screen Intel Celeron processor; 4GB RAM and 16GB built-in storage, the Chromebook also offers a number of connections including a micro USB 2.0 and SD card slot as well as an HDMI-out, headphone jack, a Kensington security lock and a USB 3.0 slot.
The device is likely to be able to deal with most of what you ask of it.
6. Acer 13
The Acer 13 uses Nvidia’s ARM Cortex A15-based Tegra K1, which helps to give the 13.3 inch Chromebook plenty of battery life so you can make the most of the 1080p resolution screen.
However, despite its dual-core Intel Celeron N2840 processor there has been plenty of reports of the £165 device struggling to multi task.
On a bright note, the battery is said to last nearly 12 hours which would out last many of its competitors.
7. HP 11
A slick Chromebook from HP, with prices starting at around £190. It only offers a 1.7GHz Samsung Exynos 5 Dual 5250 processor and performance will suffer if you have high demands from it.
The battery life is acceptable, some tests founding it over 5 ours when constantly looping 720p video, which is ok, but the Asus C200 was found to last almost twice as long.
The best features come from its looks, a light and sleek design with an 11.6inch screen.
8. Acer C720
Acer again, but they really do have some very good products in this area. At £180 it runs an Intel Celeron 2955U CPU running at 1.40 GHz.
You also get HD graphics and 100GB of free Google Drive storage for 2 years.
The downsides are that it offers limited connections, just one USB 2.0 and one 3.0. The display has also had bad reviews with it running a Active Matrix TFT Colour LCD, giving you 720p on a 11.6 inch screen.
9. Asus C300M
At £219, this is slightly more expensive than some of its rivals, but it does offer a good 9 hours of battery life and a 13.3 inch display.
A good number of ports is a boost for the device, while a strong dual-core Intel N2380 CPU, gives it better processing power than some of its competitors.
The display doesn’t offer 1080p and some of the angles which the screen rests at can affect have been known to effect quality, which is a bit of a downside.
This device does offer a decent amount of storage with 32GB SSD, allowing for quick booting and steady performance.
10. HP Pavilion 14
HP rounds out the list with a £250 Chromebook, the device is similar to a cheap laptop with its 14 inch screen and reasonably basic specs.
With an Intel Celeron 847 processor running at 1.1GHz at its heart you probably shouldn’t expect too much from it.
It offers 720p, which is a little disappointing from a larger screen, you can get away with it with a smaller screen but on 14 inch it becomes more noticeable.
The major downside though is its battery life, only 3 to 4 hours reported on solid use.
