Cloud computing is “essential for economic recovery”

David Mundell, MP for Dumfriesshire, said it would offer employment opportunities and reduce costs.

By CBR Staff Writer

Cloud computing is very essential for Scotland’s economic growth, according to Scottish Conservative Chairman David Mundell.

The Minister said that cloud computing would speed up the recovery of the economy through employment opportunities, while providing firms with a competitive and cost-effective edge.

David Mundell said that in the global race for growth, businesses and government need every competitive advantage possible.

"We need a strong, thriving and innovative ICT sector across the UK and here in Scotland," Mundell said.

"Technologies such as cloud computing can have a real impact on competitiveness, creating new ways to deliver services and collaborate as well as reducing costs.

According to the Minister, the UK has been pressing on the cloud agenda for some time now.

It launched G-Cloud two years ago in a move to introduce cloud computing to the public sector.
