Clerity, a provider of mainframe migration, modernisation and optimisation services, has made enhancements to its UniKix 11.2, a mainframe rehosting software designed to run legacy applications and data on open systems environments. It features 64-bit native performance; support for sync level 2 communications across SNA networks and new JCL pre-processing option.

The company claims that the enhancements make UniKix suitable for organisations looking to offload mainframe MIPS compute cycles to improve economies of scale and avoid costly upgrades, or for businesses that seek to replace mainframe systems.

According to Clerity, the new offering provides 64-bit native performance and the ability to address more than 1 terabyte (TB) of RAM within a single process, while making use of shared memory. It includes support for multiprocessing for optimal performance across virtualised and physical CPUs.

In addition, the JCL pre-processor enhances support of dynamic submission of JCL batch jobs, especially for legacy environments leveraging the Natural NATRJE interface. It also includes a new utility that allows for the translation of Control-M JCL to MVS JCL, a feature that simplifies the migration of existing mainframe JCL with BMC Control-M Auto Edit variable constructs, the company added.
