Clearswift, a global supplier of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) software, has acquired the intellectual property rights of Jedda Systems, a developer of endpoint DLP solutions.
This acquisition extends Clearswift’s current content aware network DLP that is integrated within its Web and Email Gateway solutions, and validates the company’s strategic direction within the information governance cyber market.
Clearswift will integrate the endpoint solutions from Jedda into their existing products, technologies and research teams. The integrated solution will provide the full capability of network, endpoint and discovery DLP appropriate for organisations of all segment sizes, the company said. The combined solution is said to be appropriate for organisations that need to protect their corporate, client, personal, sensitive and intellectual property (IP) information, which may be inadvertently or deliberately leaked.
Heath Davies, CEO at Clearswift, said: "Jedda Systems aligns perfectly within our growth strategy, and will provide our existing clients and new prospects with a superior product offering. We are delighted to welcome them to Clearswift as part of our ongoing M&A programme."
The Jedda Systems team brings content aware solutions for the endpoint that advance the current basic functionality of ‘Regular Expression Matching’ (word/phrase/token matching) DLP being provided in the market today. Structured and unstructured data can be controlled using sophisticated pattern, keyword and fingerprinting methods with built in and customisable policies to discover any type of sensitive data. This has particular relevance to Regulatory Compliance (personal identifiable information (PII) including credit card numbers, social security numbers and bank details) and Intellectual Property (IP) markets.
Chris Christiansen, VP of security products and services at IDC, commented: "Data loss prevention is a critical component of messaging security. When correctly integrated, it can help manage regulatory compliance violations, privacy breaches, and intellectual property losses. This is not a simple process because these acts range from accidental leaks to mischievous circumventions of policy to malicious thefts and embarrassingly deliberate disclosures. With Clearswift’s acquisition of Jedda, it is moving forward towards simplifying this complexity and improving of these situations"
