CLARIS IN THE BATTLE OF WORDPROCESSORS FOR THE MACINTOSH

By CBR Staff Writer

Claris Corp – remember them? They’re the software folk that Apple Computer Inc spun off into a stand-alone – but still wholly-owned – subsidiary exiled to Mountain View, is taking the fight to Microsoft Corp in the battle of word processors for the Macintosh: according to Newsbytes, the company is running ads asking readers to call a toll-free number for a free demo disk of MacWrite II for the Macintosh, saying that After 10 minutes with us, most people can’t keep their Word, – Microsoft Word of course; the company is also offering coupons worth $25 off the $250 price of the MacWrite II program – but will Apple proceed with its orginal plan to float Claris off, or reintegrate it?
