Apple Computer Inc has transferred responsibility for the development, marketing, distribution and support of its HyperCard software product to its wholly owned subsidiary Claris Corp. This move follows Apple’sdecision earlier this summer (CI No 1,458) to keep Claris as an independent subsidiary. Claris will label, distribute and support HyperCard in the US beginning in November 1990. Hypercard 2.0 will be distributed as a Claris product. Overseas markets will be considered individually, but all current distribution agreements with user groups and third-party developers will be honoured, says Apple. Next year such contracts will be made with Claris.
