Pompano Beach, Florida-based Clarion Software Inc is to acquire London-based Jensen & Partners International Ltd for an undisclosed number of Clarion shares: Clarion develops database application development tools for MS-DOS microcomputers, including the Clarion Professional Developer and Jensen developed the TopSpeed family of language products – optimising compilers, link technology, an interactive debugger and software development tools; its compiler and linker technology will be included in Clarion Professional Developer 3.0 which is scheduled to ship this quarter and the acquisition is the culmination of a two-year effort between the two to provide a proprietary database language integrated with optimised object code-generation and Clarion claims that with TopSpeed optimising code generator included in Professional Developer 3.0, its internal computing speed is more than 200 times faster than the same program created with FoxPro or Clipper; the development staff of Jensen will remain in London and will in future be known as the TopSpeed Institute.
