Clarification: ICL Plc says only one part of the UK Ministry of Defense contract won by Data General Corp (CI No 2,873) was formerly held by ICL, the high end server, 50- to 300-user contract. The company says the workstation, low and mid range server categories in the Ministry’s Information & Communications Services Catalogue were new contracts. Data General won the high end contract off ICL, and also has the low end server contract, for which ICL says it did not tender. ICL asserts that it beat Data General for the mid-range server contract, and IBM Corp for the workstation part of the contract.
