Although Hitachi Data Systems Inc is now a storage OEM supplier for Hewlett-Packard Co, it does not supply the Freedom Storage 5800 Series to HP, as our recent article (CI No 3,723) may have implied. HDS actually supplies only its high-end 7700E Series to HP as the HP XP256, not the mid-range 5800 series. The 7700E and the XP256 subsystems do not include the new enhancements to the 5800, such as the TurboLUN high speed cache system.
