CIVIL SERVANT NAMED HEAD OF GERMAN TELECOM AUTHORITY

Senior German civil servant Klaus-Dieter Scheurle has been appointed president of the new German post and telecommunications regulatory authority, which will take over from the Posts Ministry at the end of the year. Deutsche Telekom AG is set to be fully liberalized in January of next year, and Postbank AG, split off from the general post office, is also set to be sold off.
