CITRIX UPDATES WINFRAME, METAFRAME, ADDS MANAGEMENT

By CBR Staff Writer

Citrix Systems Inc has updated both its MetaFrame and older WinFrame multi-user NT product lines, and added two new server- based systems management products for resource and installation management. MetaFrame 1.8, which works in conjunction with Microsoft Corp’s Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, is out immediately. WinFrame 1.8, which runs on NT Server 3.1, will ship by the end of March. The main additions are in the areas of application publishing and server farm management. The new Program Neighborhood facility enables administrators to push access to new or updated server-based applications to the user without re-configuring the client. It’s designed to eliminate end-user involvement in new applications installations.
