Thin client system software provider Citrix Systems Inc edged out Wall Street expectations with third-quarter net income that rose 73.7% to $29.3m. Earnings per share jumped to $0.30 from $0.18 but came in at $0.35 before $7.5m in acquisition charges and related amortization costs. Analysts surveyed by First Call were expecting $0.34 in earnings. Revenue for the quarter rose 56.4% to $105.8m, also surpassing estimates of about $102m.

The Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based company saw gross margins of 96.9% for the quarter, up from 94.2% in the year-ago quarter. In the nine-month period, net income rose 114% to $82.9m on revenue up 64.8% at $285.2m. Earnings per share were $0.87, up from $0.43 last year. Nine-month results include one-time charges of $15.1m and $24.8m for the current year and last year, respectively.
