Citizen Watch Co Ltd is to shift its floppy disk drive manufacturing to China to improve the competitiveness of its exports. From December, a Chinese factory in Shenzhen will produce 20,000 to 30,000 relatively cheap drives a month, cutting Citizen’s costs by some 30% and will later take on manufacture of higher-performance peripherals.
