CITIZEN EUROPE OFFERS CHIP PACKAGING SERVICE

By CBR Staff Writer

Rapidly diversifying since it arrived with its printers three years ago, and moving further and further away from its horological roots, the Citizen Europe Ltd subsidiary of Citizen Watch is now offering a chip packaging service for European semiconductor manufacturers. The company is specialising in plastic pin grid arrays, which it says are at least 50% cheaper, but are at least as reliable, and offers 12-week turnround time from agreed specification for a complete custom package, down to seven weeks where an existing transfer moulding can be used; the work is done in Japan.
