CISCO UPGRADES CISCOWORKS MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE

Cisco Systems Inc has launched the latest version of its CiscoWorks network management product line. Version 4.0 includes additional device support and diagnostics management. According to Cisco, CiscoWorks 4.0 delivers improved device level monitoring, configuration and fault management tools. The application is compatible with the latest Cisco IOS internetworking operating system software and router hardware releases. It offers new operating systems and management platform support and year 2000 compliance. These features are complemented by Cisco Resource Manager, new web-based network management applications for performing inventory and software distribution. For a limited time, Cisco Resource Manager will be bundled free with the purchase of CiscoWorks 4.0. The latest CiscoWorks product has been updated to run on a number of platforms: Sun Site and Domain Manager 2.3 and Enterprise Manager 2.0 running on Solaris 2,5; Hewlett Packard Co OpenView 4x and 5.0; and Netview for AIX 4.1. CiscoWorks 4.0 is available now priced at $10,000. Cisco Resource Manager has a list price of $6,000, but free downloadable versions are available to new CiscoWorks 4.0 customers as well as to those that are upgrading to CiscoWorks 4.0.
