Surinder Brar, senior director of Cisco Worldwide Channels, says many broadband service providers do not have the capacity to deploy their services to businesses fast enough. Solution providers with the right training can fill that need, he says.
There are high-growth opportunities in provisioning out the services of broadband service providers, Brar says.
But solution providers need a level of expertise beyond what they traditionally have had in order to engage with service providers, he says.
Next-generation DSL solutions and Universal Dial Access, which allows unified voice, data, fax and wireless solutions to be deployed over one network, will enable broadband service providers to offer more services to customers, Brar says.
John Freres, president of Schaumburg, Ill.-based solution provider N2N Solutions, says his company is very interested in the new service provider specializations from Cisco.
N2N already is partnering with Qwest to deploy some solutions and is talking to several other service providers, Freres says.
These companies have very large national and international presences, but they don’t always have the same technical expertise in every region, he says. And I’d rather work with them as partners than always face them as a competitor.
