Cisco Systems Inc is dead against reinventing wheels where it is avoidable, and so instead of developing its own Token Ring line, it has taken Olicom A/S of Copenhagen on board as its partner for Token Ring router and switching products. The two will jointly develop a new generation of switch products for Token Ring networks, applying Cisco’s switching technology and system software combined with Olicom’s Token-Ring Media Access Control technology, custom chip designs and core Token-Ring technology.
