CISCO IN NETWORK SECURITY PACT WITH MICROSOFT AND ORACLE

By CBR Staff Writer

Cisco Systems Inc has set up an ambitious program to create a framework for network security. It’s signed up both Microsoft Corp and Oracle Corp, along with Hewlett-Packard Co, RSA Data Security Inc, Verisign Inc and Cylink Corp as founding members of what it’s calling its Enterprise Security Initiative. The goal is to enable centralized administration and dynamic links between customer security policy, user or host identity and network infrastructures. Security policies will be distributed across a network, useful for authenticating mobile users no matter where they pop up on a corporate network.
