San Jose, California-headquartered Cisco Systems Inc has announced version 10.3 of its Internetwork Operating System, saying the latest offering will enhance its routers’ performance in NetWare environments. According to the company, the release will incorporate three new capabilities into Cisco routers: Novell’s NetWare Link Services Protocol, to improve scalability in wide area networks; Novell’s IPXWAN 2.0 protocol to maximise the economic efficiency of NetWare servers working with Cisco routers; and Internet Packet Exchange Floating Static Routes, a Cisco-developed feature said to boost fault-tolerance in enterprise networks. Available now, version 10.3 will be free to holders of software maintenance contracts, says the company.
