CISCO BUYS NETWORK TRANSLATION FOR INTERNET ADDRESS, FIREWALL SKILLS

By CBR Staff Writer

All the networking equipment companies are eager acquirers, none more so than Cisco Systems Inc, and for its latest morsel, it has chosen Network Translation Inc, a networking manufacturer of low maintenance network address translation and Internet firewall equipment. The company is privately-held and terms were not disclosed. The investment is intended to broaden Cisco’s offerings for security-conscious network administrators that want to map dynamically between re-usable private network addresses and globally unique registered Internet addresses. The acquisition gives it the Network Translation Private Internet Exchange, designed to help network administrators to resolve their need for registered IP address space, Cisco commented.
