Having sold a reasonable amount of its technology in Russia, Menlo Park, California-based Cisco Systems Inc has now appointed distributors and plans to open a Moscow office. The move was prompted by the end of Co-ordinating Committee for Multilateral Export Control, CoCom, high technology trade restrictions. The distributors are LVS Systems, Telinfo Russia and French owned AMT Group SA. Cisco held advanced training courses for its distributors in July and later in the summer it will hold a series of open seminars on inter-networking. Cisco says that it has between 75% and 90% share of the hub market in Central and Eastern Europe. Customers in Russia include a number of banks, and electronic mail companies Relcom and Demos.
