Cisco unveils cloud ready networking application

The new application is designed to enable users to securely connect to cloud services

By CBR Staff Writer

Networking firm Cisco has introduced its Cloud Connected Solution, a new product that delivers cloud-enabled routing and wide area network (WAN) optimisation platforms, along with Cloud Connector software and services.

The new application is designed to enable users to securely connect to cloud services. It also helps organisations implement cloud computing and accelerate the deployment of cloud services while delivering an optimal user experience at minimal cost.

The new product application includes a new software called Cloud Connectors, which is embedded into the Cisco Integrated Services Router (ISR) G2 platform along with services that improve the performance, security and availability of cloud applications.

The open architecture of the Cloud Connectors helps service providers to develop third-party Cloud Connectors to deliver differentiated services to their customers.

It also includes Cisco WAAS 5.0 with AppNav enables customers to virtualise WAN optimisation resources by pooling them together into an on-demand resource that includes the best latency performance.

The AppNav provides an elastic "scale-as-you-grow" application deployment model that enables enterprise-wide application acceleration and performance visibility.

Cloud Connected Solution also includes a Cloud Services Router (CSR), a virtual router that lets enterprises extend their virtual private networks (VPNs) into the cloud.

The Cloud Services Router (CSR) 1000v enables enterprises to extend and control different facets of their enterprise network to clouds while providing cloud service providers (CSPs) with increased revenue opportunities though a "network-as-a-service" model, the company said.

Cisco is also expanding the Aggregation Services Router (ASR) platform with the Cisco ASR 1002-X router that enables organisations to increase their WAN performance by up to seven times and delivers up to 36 Gbps performance with services turned on for the WAN Edge, Internet Edge and Managed Services environments.

The company is also introducing the Cisco UCS E-Series Server Modules on the ISR G2, delivering lean branch applications by hosting multiple third party services on a single branch platform.

Cisco has also updated its existing routing, security and WAN optimization applications, as well as new features and models on the ASR, ISR G2 and WAAS appliances.
