Cisco is planning to acquire TR-069 based broadband CPE management applications provider ClearAccess along with its software business and talent.

The two companies’ combined network management and software capabilities will improve operational efficiencies and customer experiences and also will enable service providers to deliver, manage and monetise their services better.

ClearAccess’ management and software capabilities will offer service providers a set of tools for managing the connected home, including monitoring and managing bandwidth usage, parental controls, diagnostics and analytics, said Cisco.

This acquisition will enable Cisco to build software platforms and drive business and technology architecture, besides supporting the Cisco Prime platform.

Following the acquisition, the ClearAccess team will be integrated into the Cisco Network Management Technology Group, said Cisco.

Cisco Network Management Technology Group, Service Provider Applications vice president and general manager Jamie Lerner said the acquisition reinforces Cisco’s commitment to service providers by accelerating software architectural advancements in mobility, cloud and managed devices, and video.

"ClearAccess provides a critical technology that will advance Cisco’s mission to offer service providers a complete set of tools to manage their networks, within the home and across any connected device, amid the ongoing proliferation in network traffic," said Lerner.
