Cisco has partnered with Italtel, a telecoms equipment maker, to develop products and services for the Internet of Things market.
In recognising the strength of the partnership, the networking giant also credited Italtel with the "Cisco Partner of the Year Award for EMEAR for Internet of Things Solutions 2014" for its investment in the IoT sector.
Italtel’s head of System Integration Strategy & Marketing Camillo Ascione said: "Thanks to Cisco’s innovative technology, we are actively working on several verticals, such as energy, manufacturing and transportation, partnering with our customers to drive their evolution towards IoT."
"We are proud of being awarded this prestigious prize that motivates us to go further on this path, also approaching other verticals, like Retail and Real-Estate."
In the past, Italtel has used Cisco’s hardware and software technologies to develop IoT services and products, including smart grids for electric utilities.
Last year, Italtel also extended its IoT portfolio to the manufacturing market. By using its network security, wi-fi coverage, data centre and analytics management tools, Italtel claims that manufacturers can reduce operating costs and satisfy customers’ demands more efficiently.
