Networking offerings provider Cisco has acquired service fulfillment software assets and associated employees from the UK subsidiary (formerly Axiom Systems) of Comptel, a provider of OSS (Operations Support Systems) software to the telecoms market.

With this acquisition, Cisco is expected to extend network and service management technologies across its Internet Protocol (IP) network platforms, allowing service providers to launch new video, data, mobility and cloud services to the customers.

AXIOSS software suite is a fulfillment platform which strengthens the Cisco service provider management by enabling automating ordering and fulfillment.

Cisco said the software provides management capabilities for network services across its five company priorities and enhances Cisco Prime by enabling service providers to manage their networks and network services.

Cisco is expected to demonstrate its commitment to innovate around the convergence of services and networks by integrating service management and fulfillment capabilities into Cisco Prime.

Strong software development and professional services skills to support the Cisco Prime platform are provided through the AXIOSS software suite, Cisco said.

Following the acquisition, AXIOSS team joins the Cisco Network Management Technology and Cisco Advanced Services Groups.
