Cirrus Logic Inc, Fremont, California has teamed up with privately-held Fluent Machines Inc, Framingham, Massachusetts to enhance the full-motion video capabilities of MS-DOS micros. The two will combine Fluent’s digital video and audio system software expertise with the video display technology of Cirrus Logic’s Pixel Semicondutor unit: Pixel will develop integrated circuits that are compatible with Fluent’s Fluency software architecture for the processing and display of multiple full-motion video windows on MS-DOS machines and Cirrus will manufacture and market them. Fluent will develop software optimised for the features of the Pixel chips, and will license the software to Cirrus customers.
