Cirrus Logic Inc has joined Intel Corp, Microsoft Corp and Compaq Computer Corp in the the Universal ADSL Working Group (UAWG), aimed at speeding up the aoption of high-speed digital internet access over existing copper phone lines (CI No 3,330). The group will define technology requirements for the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), which is ultimately responsible for setting an ADSL standard.
