The Pacific Communication Sciences Inc San Diego-based unit of Cirrus Logic Inc has made a significant breakthrough in Japan with a strategic alliance with telecommunications company Daini Denden International Corp and Kyocera Corp to provide key technology and integrated chip sets for a major trial of a new personal communications service for the Japanese market – the new Personal Handy Phone service is focused on residential cordless and public Telepoint applications; Telepoint flopped in the UK, where it was invented, but is big business in the heavily-populated Hong Kong.
