CIPHER DATA PRODUCTS ANNOUNCES NEW TAPE DRIVES

Cipher Data Products of San Diego, California has announced two new half-height 150Mb quarter inch tape drives and an enhancement to its Model 540 tape drive; the two 150Mb products are the ST150S, which has a burst transfer rate of 2Mb-per-second and includes an ANSI-standard SCSI-2 interface, and the ST150F, which like the full-height 125Mb quarter-inch 540/Plus, offers an enhanced QIC-02 interface; the latter two products will be available in January – the ST150F at $620 each in quantities of 1,000 and the 540/Plus at $550 – with the ST150S scheduled for March at $620.
