Having lost rights to the Net/Master network management system, Cincom UK Ltd has identified manufacturing as a potential major growth area and has set up a new division entirely devoted to its Control:Manufacturing software. The company says that the user base has expanded rapidly over the past few years, growing from UKP2m in 1987 to an expected UKP6m in 1990 and UKP10m by 1992. Cincom Manufacturing will be based in Maidenhead, Berkshire and headed by general manager John Beaver. He says that the current staff of 65 will increase to 100 within 18 months. Control:Manufacturing runs on both IBM and DEC kit and Cincom is also evaluating an implementation for Unix. The company is also looking to bring a fully distributed multi-site implementation to market within 18 months.
