The new link extends the network to Frankfurt through Copenhagen, a key data traffic route.
RASCOM general director V. I. Kireev said there is growing demand among Russian service providers for a high-speed network link to Frankfurt, an imperative route for business.
"With Ciena’s coherent offering, RASCOM can meet the growing bandwidth demands of our customers and easily scale as capacity requirements alter. Ciena offers unbeatable flexibility in network planning and simple commissioning and operation processes, enabling us to respond to changing customer needs in a timely manner," Kireev said.
RASCOM new international network includes six 40G wavelengths connecting Moscow to Frankfurt and will be based on Ciena’s ActivFlex 6500 Packet-Optical Platform, powered by family of WaveLogic coherent optical processors.
Ciena EMEA vice-president and general manager François Docoh-Lonou said RASCOM’s high-capacity network acts as a key enabler for cross-border business by meeting the growing bandwidth demands of successful enterprises.
"RASCOM will benefit from a highly scalable and flexible architecture on this key network route, allowing it to grow and adapt together with its customers," Docoh-Lonou said.
