CIE DE RADIOCOMMUNICACIONES WINS FRANCHISE IN ARGENTINA

Cie de Radiocommunicaciones, a consortium led by BellSouth Corp with Motorola Inc, CitiCorp and two Argentinian companies, has won the franchise to build and operate a private cellular telephone network in Argentina: Motorola will supply the hardware, BellSouth the operational skills and CitiCorp the financial disciplines; investment – for a service due to start in April next year, is put at about $220m, and BellSouth reckons it is looking at a $300m market within 15 years.
