CHS Electronics Inc, an acquisition-hungry computer products distributor from Miami, Florida, was tight-lipped over reports that it is about to bid for troubled Azlan Plc, the UK distributor. While Azlan confirmed that it has received inquiries, the company said that it is premature to say whether they will lead to an offer for the company. A CHS official said: CHS has a policy of not commenting on acquisition rumors. Azlan is vulnerable because the company is currently under investigation by the serious fraud office after last year’s 15.1m pound profit had to be re-stated as a 14.3m pound loss. A new management team in now in place at Azlan, a company which specializes in LANS and WANS. CHS has just received the go-ahead from the European Union for a take-over of French company Metrologie International SA and Azlan would fit in well with an expansion of its European interests.
