Chrysler Corp has emerged as a strong supporter of the intranet model of computing, and according to Interactive Week, its internal systems department has halted a proposed shift from Unix to Microsoft Corp’s Windows NT in favor of using Netscape Communications Corp’s browser and server technology, enabling its 5,000 plus dealers to perform remote diagnostics on Chrysler cars. The agreement, which is said to involve a site license for the Navigator browser and $10m for server software.
