Christmas is a busy time of year for restaurants, but Kettners in Soho, one of the grandest Pizza and hamburger bars in London, where Edward VII once entertained – or was entertained by – Lily Langtry and her ilk – must be more than than usually run off its feet this season, reports the Daily Telegraph City Diary: in the upstairs provate dining room last week, one customer became so fed up with waiting for service that he dialled the Kettners switchboard and asked the operator to make sure a waiter was sent to the private room; I seem to remember that call, ruminated a Kettners employee; The customer was not angry as I recall – in fact he seemed very amused by it all.
