The recently acquired Chloride Telecoms Systems, (SAED) of Dol de Bretagne in France, has secured major contracts with Bouyges Telecom, France, Optimus, Portugal and Nortel Networks, Mauritania, to supply power protection systems to the telecom infrastructure to these territories. The order, worth A$1.5 million, is the largest secured to date by Chloride Hytek and was won against strong competition from other leading international power protection suppliers.

IT Environments, UK – a specialist in co-location facilities – has awarded Chloride a frame agreement to supply power protection for data-centres throughout Europe. The initial contract for GBP1,400,000 will roll out over the next six months. These installations will be supported by Chloride’s after-sales service capability throughout Europe, utilising the advanced LIFE 2000 monitoring and diagnostic system.

Masterguard, the power protection division of Siemens AG acquired by Chloride in March 2000, secured record orders in November and December. The orders, worth circa GBP5 million reflect Masterguard’s capability to supply power protection to the important German market and other international markets such as China, Brazil, Spain and South Africa.

Commenting on the recent contract wins, Keith Hodgkinson, Chief Executive said:

I am delighted that the positive momentum in our focused markets is being maintained. The recently acquired Chloride Telecom Systems is performing well with further benefits to come early in 2001 as our DC Power Systems solutions are rolled out through the existing Chloride sales channels. These contract wins demonstrate the success of our strategy to build market leadership positions for power protection solutions in our international markets.
