Chips & Technologies co-founders Dado Banatao and Ron Yara, Tuesday have a new company, S3 Inc, in Santa Clara, California which has introduced its first 17 products: S3 claims to have originated the Silicon SubSystems approach to system design and to be the only company to deliver flexible workstation architecture with MS-DOS compatibility and cost over a range of system performance; the Silicon SubSystems design approach consists of modular, scalable system building blocks combined with an open, high-speed Advanced Chip Interconnect bus, designed to enable manufacturers to develop a range of MS-DOS products from desktop micros to workstations, servers and multiuser systems; the initial 17 products form the CPU, memory and input-output subsystems and will be introduced in second half of 1990.
