Chipcom Corp president Robert Held was on the Mongomery Securities platform in San Francisco – where Reuter was taking notes – to say that his company is well positioned in the growing enterprise computing market despite the expected entry of new networking products from competitors: he said the hub communications market should grow some 30% a year while the switch hub market for computers should grow by some 75% a year; he sees a coming shoot out among major networking companies in the coming months as new products were introduced to take advantage of the move by corporations to set up enterprise networking environments for their computer systems, but Chipcom expects to do well with increased revenues from Europe; chief financial officer Robert Badavas said that as forecast, revenue in the just completed third quarter will be down from Digital Equipment Corp, but that the shortfall will be made up by increased revenues from Europe and from other sources.
