CHIP BOOK TO BILL STAYS AT 1.13

The Semiconductor Industry Association’s book-to-bill ratio for January was unchanged from the December figure at 1.13. During the month, shipments fell 12% to $850.7m compared with the December figure, but were 28% up on the January 1987 figure. Three month running orders to January were off 2.9% on the December average at $1,010m, and three month running average shipments were 2.6% off at $899.6m. January is traditionally weak.
