Recording a provisional book-to-bill ration of 1.00 for December against 0.93 in November, the Semiconductor Industry Association describes it as a recovery from the summer slowdown. At $1,278.8m, December shipments of chips to the US market were 6.7% up. Average monthly orders for the three months to December were 4.2% up on November at $1,221.0m. Three-month average shipments for December were $1221.7m to produce the book-to-bill ratio of 1.00. But, as has been the case several times of late, the October ratio has been revised down: three-month average shipments to October were revised to $1,237.5m for a ratio of 0.92 against the 0.93 reported. November’s 0.93 is still provisional.
