That agreement won by Northern Telecom Ltd in China (CI No 2,193) involves it setting up a DPN-100 exchange manufacturing joint venture, establishing an outpost of Bell-Northern Research there, and a joint venture for design, development and manufacture of very large-scale integrated circuits: initially the Toronto company will invest between $40m and $75m in the switching plant, set to open in 1994.
