China Telecom firm favorite for China’s third cellular license

According to the China News Service, China Telecom could be on the brink of winning a mobile phone license. The award would break the country's current duopoly between China Mobile and China Unicom.

Also in the running for a Chinese mobile license are China Netcom and China Railcom. The major advantage China Telecom has over these operators is the boost it would provide to the company’s expected bid for an oversees stock market listing next year.
