A Chinese court, in the first such decision in favor of foreign companies, has ordered a Peking computer retailer to pay damages to three US software firms, including Microsoft Corp, officials said. The Beijing First Intermediate People’s Court ordered Beijing Ju Ren Computer Co to pay $53,615 damages to Microsoft, Autodesk Inc and Word Perfect Application Group for pirating their software. The court also fined Beijing Ju Ren $9,650 and confiscated all its pirated goods, the China Youth Daily reported.
