China Mobile increases network capacity

The China Mobile Company has issued, through its subsidiaries Shanghai Mobile and Jilin Mobile, two GSM networks expansion agreements with Alcatel. Shanghai Mobile's GSM network will soon reach nine million subscribers, of which five million will be supported by Alcatel GSM systems.

This is the latest in a long line of network expansion deals in China, Alcatel’s Chinese joint venture Shanghai Bell Alcatel Mobile Communication System has received eight network expansion deals this year alone.

This latest deal will see the company install and commission Base Stations, Home Location Register’s (HLR), Base Station Controller’s and Mobile Switching Centers.
